Natalie took refuge in the upstairs powder room of the mansion in River Oaks and held her tube of lip gloss with hands that shook. She desperately tried to control the trembling in her fingers so she could reapply the color to her lips.
As she looked at herself in the mirror, she knew her inner turmoil was well hidden behind a façade of soft silky hair, a sleek designer dress, and perfect make-up that lacked only the gloss she sought to repair.
The door began to open with not even a tiny sound of warning and her eyes flew to the knob that she had sworn she'd locked. Her breath lodged in her throat as Marco slipped inside, secured the door that she had failed to lock only minutes before, and came to stand behind her in the tiny room.
He pressed his chest against her back, propelling her forward a few inches until she was crowded against the vanity. Her nerves shifted restlessly, and the impact of his body against hers made her lipstick fall from her fingers and land in the sink in front of her.
Her eyes tangled with his in the mirror. The look on his face jolted her heart and her pulse skittered and began pounding in her chest.
He towered over her, and the muscles beneath his designer suit were corded and strained. His eyes were furious, and he held his lips tightly closed over teeth she knew were gritted in anger. She struggled to control her features, to keep all expression from her face. She would be damned if she let him see how badly she was hurting. She refused to take responsibility for the scene that had just taken place; she was innocent of all wrong-doing.
She began to open her mouth to tell him so.
Before she could get one word out, his hand snaked out and covered her mouth and suppressed her words in a grip so ruthless that it made her nostrils flare and her eyes widen in barely controlled panic.
He lowered his mouth to her ear and held her eyes with his while he hissed out his fury. "I told you not to wear this dress." He held her silent and immobilized with one steely arm while his other hand reached in front of her and captured her soft flesh within his grip. He held her between his finger and thumb tightly, just short of pain, in a display of ownership and control.
Natalie sucked in oxygen through her nose and closed her eyes against him and the erotic picture they made in the mirror.
"I told you what Kennedy would do if you wore this dress. He can't ever keep his damn eyes off you." He dropped his hand inside her neckline and delved inside her lace-edged bra until he was holding her in a possessive grip. "I can't believe I let you buy the damn thing. I'm burning it when we get home."
Natalie held her eyes closed and tried not to be controlled by his intimate touch on her naked flesh. It was almost impossible to fight against. It had been this way since the day she'd met him, and she very much feared it would be this way until the day she died.
"Open your eyes," he growled in her ear.
She didn't comply quickly enough to suit him and his hand dropped from her mouth to land on the pulse beating rapidly in her throat, in a sexually intimidating move. Her eyes flew open at the demanding touch and tangled with his in the mirror as his hands caressed her with firm, possessive strokes. She licked her dry lips and tried to get her throat to work. "It's not the dress," she argued softly.
"No, it's damn well not the dress. It's you. He wants you and thinks he can have you."

I love caveman-alpha heroes. I really do. And if he talks dirty to me, and has some over-the-top, jealous-possessive-obsessive tendencies, I'm pretty much hooked on the guy. At times, Marco might seem like a jerk. He is controlling in the extreme, and I do mean that. His attitude about the heroine is crazy-intense, and it almost screams Stalker! when he tells Natalie that she's never getting away from him.Later he also tells her, "You're mine- all mine. Nobody else gets to touch you and you belong to me, body and soul. Outside of bed- you want something- you'll have it. Inside this bedroom- or anywhere else sex is involved- I say 'jump' and your pretty little lips need to beg me to tell you 'how high.' Got that?" And man, did this hit all my hot spots. It's not PC and it's not for every woman/reader, but almost everything he said got to me, and in a very good way. I can't tell you how many times I was highlighting quotes. They were all so aggressively male and just too dayum hot not to bookmark.
As for the heroine, she is young (24, and eight years younger than Marco). She's new in town, unemployed and looking for work. She's low on funds and is making do on her cousin's couch. I agree that she's the sweet and kind of innocent type, easily pliable where a ruthless, somewhat older and way more experienced man like Marco is concerned. But all these factors are what allows Marco to take advantage of Natalie and this situation. She hits the back of Marco's car while driving her cousin's car, on which the insurance has lapsed, and it's Marco's brilliant plan to use Natalie as domestic help in order to make restitution to him. But you know what kind of pay-back he really wants. He's intimidating, ruthless and determined to get his way.
There is very much this sexy feeling of coercion for me with this situation: do this and I won't do that. Clean my house, etc., and I won't sue you for damages. So, here you have Natalie pretty much at his beck and call, in his home and under his thumb. The sex is very hot, really arousing, lots of build-up and sexual tension with that man about to lose his cool at any given moment. He can be snarky and has a temper, too, and one point, he even chases Natalie to her bedroom after she calls him a deserved name and throws a pill bottle at him. He chases after her and is pounding on the door for her to open that door right THIS minute. I loved that scene.
My only quibbles: when Chapter 10 starts eight months later, this jarred me out of the afterglow of the previous scene, and also the epilogue. I like that the epilogue was many years down the line, but I must admit I wanted a bit more there. It needed a bit more attention or depth there for me personally. But really, I thought Marco's Redemption was a super-sexy read with one over-the-top hot alpha male hero, an alpha who's so territorial that he practically wants to keep the heroine under lock and key, and probably, barefoot and pregnant as well. I loved Marco, loved the dirty talk, loved the sexual tension, loved him being in control and so dominating in the bedroom and out. A super-fine, caveman alpha.

I've said it before, and I will say it again...."No one writes a hot alpha male like Lynda Chance." She is one of the few authors who can grab my attention from the beginning off a story and maintain it to the end. While it may not be 'politically correct' in this day and age to fantasize about a hot, dominant, possessive man......I will admit that I would be first in line to get one if they were rolling off the assembly line. I can't explain it...but that kind of guy just "melts my butter."
And so it goes with Marco. He's rich, sexy, domineering, and up until the day he met Julie, never desired a permanent relationship with any woman. And even though this little pint-sized female knocks him for a loop, he knows he needs to contain his sexual urges toward her. He could tell almost immediately that her sexual experience with men has been limited, which is totally unlike the typical woman he usually dates. He knows he has to move slowly so that he doesn't scare her off....because the LAST thing he wants is for her run from him. But what starts out with her agreeing to perform maid service for him in exchange for damaging his car, quickly escalates into something much more personal. Marco wants Julie....living in his apartment...and sleeping in his bed. And he will do whatever it takes to make that happen. He's a jealous, possessive man, and his caveman attitude would turn a lot of women off. But as Julie comes to know Marco better, she realizes that underneath that gruff, impatient attitude he exhibits is a man who has always found it hard to trust women. And because of that, he's afraid to give his heart to one. Against her better judgment, Julie falls in love with Marco. But she needs to know that she is more to him than just a possession or a sexual play thing.
I liked the progression of the story and the development of the characters. Julie starts off as a meek young woman who is down on her luck. But she finds her voice half-way into her relationship with Marco and she does not hesitate to challenge him when she feels the situation calls for it. Marco is not used to being challenged....by anyone....much less a woman, and consequently he doesn't always deal well with it. Both have trust issues and misunderstandings to iron out. Still, I found myself rooting for these two lovers. They are as different as two people can be. But as we all know....opposites attract.
If you enjoy reading about a sexy Alpha male who finds the woman he loves and sets out to do everything in his power to possess her, protect her, and always keep her safe, then this book is for you. I recommend it.
OK, I really loved this book.. this book hit me in all the right places.. many times.
Marco is the most alpha male possesive jerky super sexy insatable guy i've ever had the privilege to read about. He is possessive to the extream... and I love it. He is rich, sexy, goes after what he wants.. but --- Marco, deep deep down, does have a heart. Its just a very controlling heart.
Natalie.. she sweet, un-jaded and seriously short on money. She's petite and beautiful.. and when Marco first lays eyes on her he has the uncontrolable need to protect AND possess her.
They meet when Natalie accidently rear ends his very expensive car on the interstate.. she of course is driving a beat up un-insured hooptie. She has no way to pay him for the damages.. so he convinces her to move in with him and be his housekeeper while she works off the cost of the repairs.. Its all blazing chemistry and combustion from there.
Marco is the perfect book man for me.. so sexy and jerky and possessive.. I loved every minute of it. Whats even BETTER.. is there was no angst at all in this book...the chemistry was there from the beginning, they did something about it, they kept at it, they fell for each other, they admitted it , and you get your HEA. All of that and plus you get the man that would do anything to possess you and keep you happy and satisfied.
I will be re-reading this one again very soon. I'm just now done and I miss Marco already...
